SeaShells Penneshaw is located on the third level of Hog Bay and overlooks Backstairs Passage to the north back to the mainland.  The beach is about 200 metres away.  To the south, SeaShells Penneshaw abuts the Karatta Conservation Park containing rare vegetation species plus its share of local visitors including blue wrens, various parrots, magpies and wallabies.  Within a kilometer to the west is situated the town centre and the SeaLink ferry terminal.

The SeaShells Penneshaw site has two houses, one permanently occupied by the owners and the other purpose built for holiday rental accommodation.  Architect designed and completed in December 2005, the SeaShells Penneshaw houses reflect the local historic character of neighbouring beach houses built over the last thirty years.

The holiday rental facilities are fully furnished, modern, clean and comfortable.  The room layouts are simple and functional.  Externally, the roof lines maintain the traditional late 1960s and 70s low pitched skillion roofs.  The walls are clad with horizontal custom orb and bedroom windows feature sun awnings with seashell motif lead light glazing.

The open planned living areas link directly to an outdoor deck via full width glazed bi-folding doors to view across Backstairs passage to the mainland.  The flexibility of the room arrangements make it ideal to accommodate two to eight guests be it couples, families, extended families or groups.
The tranquil setting is conducive for a relaxing stay in relatively close proximity to town facilities, the beach and the ferry terminal.  Its location provides an excellent starting or finishing point to the many attractions available on Kangaroo Island.
